Redesign news: there *will* be a proper redesign at some point. One of the features I am currently considering is a choice of skins for this site, particularly as so many people have said that they preferred the old colour scheme to the new (although the response to the new colours has been generally positive – I felt it was time for a change). Not sure how I’m going to achieve this yet (some time trawling the “how to” stuff on the web, and possibly pestering a few online friends as well), but I will do it *when I have time* (i.e. not in the near future – college restarts on Tuesday, so time is going to be less plentiful).

nearly forgot: TFF – 27 points this week, total now 66. Unbelievably, the top team already has 180 points after only two weeks!

Everybody has been talking about this. As I see it, the man is either brave or foolish (or possibly both) to have such a candid blog (assuming, of course, that it isn’t another dumb hoax – and I have an uncomfortable feeling that it may well be).

Consider this site tweaked in the following ways:

• text size increased
• timestamp colour changed
• sharpness of banner image improved
• navbar background colour changed, border reinstated, text colours modified
• useless black space at the top of the page removed
• background of tables changed to white so that you can read them

I’ve just been described as “too new-age-sensitive-guy”. hmm.

Thanks for all the comments about the redecoration (I refuse to use the word “redesign” because that would imply more than a few alterations to the CSS). Looking at it today at work where my monitor is smaller, I agree with those who have said that the text can be a little hard to read – so I’ll work on that. And I’m sold on the idea that the navbar should be something other than white, but I’m not yet convinced by the arguments for the blue or black. So I’ll tweak the colour scheme a bit when I get home this evening, and hopefully improve on it.

Yup. Redecorated Grayblog. I’ve been threatening to do this for a while now, and I’m pretty pleased with it. Use the comments function to throw bouquets and brickbats, if you feel like it.

For a few years now, I’ve had a Kentia palm called Ken – Ken the Kentia, geddit? I’ve now got a new plant, a Calathea. There is such an obvious name.
