Off-road buggy

on the beach at Ballinskeilligs

Fording a stream on the beach at Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry. Buying the expensive all-terrain pushchair proved to be a worthwhile investment as we explored one of the cleanest, most peaceful and beautiful beaches I think there must be in the British Isles. Mind you, I’m sure that salt water and sand do nothing for a pushchair’s longevity.

  1. We covered around 1500 miles on this trip, much of it on motorways. At 9 mpg at motorway speeds and 12 mpg on A-roads, I reckon it would have cost us around £500 in petrol to take the Land Rover, not to mention about five pints of oil and 20 pairs of ear plugs.
    Would have been fun, though.

  2. Ah, the good old Jané Slalom Pro Matrix. Definitely expensive but the carrycot was great (while he could fit in it) and it’s great in our local woods. The only downsides I’ve found are 1) the tyres seem to puncture far too easily when you do take it off road and 2) unlike the mamas and papas travel systems, it doesn’t have a beer holder.
