First in a series of articles. It seems to play down the likelihood of a Flemish/Walloon split, but the few people I've spoken to about this (all Flemish) might not agree.
After mistakenly saying “merci” instead of “bedankt” to a waiter in Bruges over the summer, we were treated to a 10 minute presentation on why Belgium was basically screwed and the future, for Bruges at least, was Flanders. The general impression was that Wallonia could take a long walk off a short plank. The waiter was a nice enough guy though (if a little intense).
