Well, asides from the fact that it is a sport based on skill, tactics, cunning, individual talent <b>and<\/b> teamwork (plus the odd smattering of luck), there are also the sandwiches, beer, sunglasses, <span title=\"a reference to Test Match Special, of course\">pigeons and double-decker buses<\/span>. Then there is the terminology (yorker, leg break, googly, crease, silly point, covers) and the folklore (for example, why is a Nelson unlucky?). It is also hugely entertaining to confuse people (Americans in particular) by trying to explain the laws of the game.<br \/>\nBut best of all is the way it brings out the geeky statto in so many people and leads to articles such as <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/hi\/english\/cricket\/england\/newsid_2022000\/2022837.stm\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"which also touches on left-handedness, another pet subject\">this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why do I love cricket?
