Thankfully, the day improved, particularly once the sun came out.
Now back to the study (sigh).

It has to be said
It has to be said that standing in the rain, not selling much of anything, is fairly disheartening. Particularly when I have so many other things that I need to do. You can tell that I’m not busy because I’ve got time to use Wapblogger.

Why do I love cricket?
Why do I love cricket? Well, asides from the fact that it is a sport based on skill, tactics, cunning, individual talent and teamwork (plus the odd smattering of luck), there are also the sandwiches, beer, sunglasses, pigeons and double-decker buses. Then there is the terminology (yorker, leg break, googly, crease, silly point, covers) and the folklore (for example, why is a Nelson unlucky?). It is also hugely entertaining to confuse people (Americans in particular) by trying to explain the laws of the game.
But best of all is the way it brings out the geeky statto in so many people and leads to articles such as this one. -
Round-up:Well done to England for
Round-up:
- Well done to England for beating the Argentinians at football. I think I’m going to buy an England cricket shirt and wear it to the pub in protest at the saturation of the media with soccer.
- Late night last night with work. Early start this morning. Stood in the rain all day at the Garden Show at Stansted House. Back there tomorrow and Sunday – come along and cheer my spirits as I get soaked (or, if you are more sensible, stay home and dry).
- More study this evening.

There have been loads of
There have been loads of stories and things over the last few days that I’ve wanted to link to, describe, comment on, talk about. But I just haven’t had time. I’m really started to get very drained by the wall-to-wall workload – nursery, plant fairs, my events, college, domestic engineering. Social life has been totally squeezed out now. Domestic engineering is only hanging on for decency’s sake. And all the other elements are competing for a finite, and frankly inadequate, time resource. But, on the flip side – only 19 more days of this, and then (relative) freedom!

Hmm. Still at work at 7.30pm, and unlikely to leave for another half hour. Then home to do more work. And some college work. And probably drink some beer, although from my fridge and not the pub. Then up early tomorrow for a long long long day.
You know what I’d really like right now? No? Well, I think someone does. It involves a big white sofa and huge windows. -
The good news is that
The good news is that the wind is blowing in such a fashion as to blow the rain onto my windows, so I may not have to wash them after all. Lazy, moi?

Gawd. Isn’t it wet? I’m not looking forward to this weekend – three days out in the rain. Ugh.
