  • Didn’t get to do any

Didn’t get to do any painting – still cleaning. But should be able to make a start tomorrow.

  • Paul Reynolds of the BBC

Paul Reynolds of the BBC offers an analysis of the draft EU constitution. Recommended reading.

  • Busy busy. Off to the

Busy busy. Off to the tip shortly with some office detritus for recycling. Then I may even use a paintbrush this afternoon.

  • I’m still pooped. I woke

I’m still pooped. I woke up in the middle of the night for no particular reason. Whenever that happens, I never feel quite so rested in the morning, even if I only woke up briefly.
And I still have a shedload of work to do. Anyone fancy coming round to help paint my office?

  • Regardless of any other opinion

Regardless of any other opinion on the matter, it astonishes me that the European Union has managed to get this far without a constitution. Let’s face it, any club or society would have a constitution, just to establish protocols for management. Honestly, this strikes me as something that should have been sorted out years ago. But I fear that there will be much wrangling before it is settled, including much stuff and nonsense from the europhobes.
The full text can be found here, although it doesn’t strike me as exciting reading. But I suspect that lots of people will talk about it as if they have actually read it.
I remember years ago going (fairly regularly) to the Fox and Hounds at East Ashling, where they had a paperback copy of the Maastricht Treaty on a bookshelf. I can’t say that I ever saw anyone reading it.

I’m pooped. What a long day.

  • Beers last night with Lord

Beers last night with Lord Percy, Lady Bren, Hamish, Ruth, DJ, Fi, Jools, Sarah, Paul, a new Sarah, Paul F, Kearn and Arron. Went to bed far too late.
Work this morning has seen a coachload of Swedish gardeners, who made the day a little more interesting. I learnt one word of Swedish today – "kiss" (not sure you spell it like that, but that’s what it sounds like), which means "cat". Unless I misunderstood what the lady meant!

  • Chicken in white wine, mushroom

Chicken in white wine, mushroom and herb sauce, served on a bed of basmati and brown rice with green beans and a dash of lemon juice. Yum. And all just for me.
Out for beers tonight in W2 to celebrate Greg’s (a.k.a. Lord Percy) birthday.

  • Been at work all day,

Been at work all day, and very busy, hence quiet.
    Happy birthday to Lord Percy.
