Worrying news. My aunt has been admitted to hospital, having been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is to have her left breast removed, as well as the glands under her arm. We are all concerned for her – a concern made worse by the fact that she lives on the other side of the world in Wanganui, New Zealand. So it is a little hard for us to just go and visit her.
Our family has a long history of cancer – everyone on my father’s side of the family has experienced cancer in one form or another. My grandmother (my father’s and my aunt’s mother) died from breast cancer when I was only five years old – a thought which is certainly at the front of my father’s mind today. It is something that truly scares me.
