As I arrived home this evening, I passed the aftermath of an accident on the Northgate Gyratory, just a couple of hundred metres from my home. Judging by what I could see, it looked like a pedestrian had been knocked down.
This is symptomatic of two problems with this particular piece of road. Firstly, people drive much too fast around it. Secondly, in spite of one of the biggest office buildings in Chichester being at the centre of the Gyratory (Metro House) as well as the regional WI HQ and fire station, there is no provision at all for pedestrians to get to and from the centre of the Gyratory without wading through the traffic – there is no subway, no traffic lights, no bridge.
I have a horrible feeling that nothing will be done until someone is killed here.
